RV's Extra In The Ordinary
This picture I chose is a picture taken during the RV60 preview. This was the first time we tried performing in the evening, with all the lights and everything. I chose a picture of RVians performing as this is 'extra in the ordinary' to me. To others, this performance may seem just like any other performances. But to us, RVians, this is not the case. We worked very hard to made this celebration a success and we stayed back till 6 or 7.30pm almost everyday to make this happen.
Not many schools put in this much effort into their anniversary celebrations, but our school did. The teachers planned all sorts of performances and even got the whole school involved (other than the year ones, of course). The mas display was the best part of the whole performance. Just the wushu mass display segment consisted of about 500 students from all sorts of CCAs (including myself), all gathered together to perform as wushu mass display. The FSD and Drum segments also consisted of people from different CCAs, bringing all of us together as ONE RV.
These various performances even appeared on the news, and RV60 became something way much bigger. After the actual performance came to an end, all performers on the field were clapping along with the music while the alumni were brought into the hall for the dinner. At that exact moment, I felt proud. Proud that I was involved in my school's anniversary celebration and proud that I am an RVian. Most schools would not have been able to organise such a huge event consisting of (almost) the whole school but RV has managed to do it.
This is a once in a lifetime experience and I would never forget that night.
